Who? Me? Yes, You! - Week 8

"Embracing Your Identity In Christ"

I Am The Bride of Christ

I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

(Rev. 21:2)

Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready.

(Re 19:7)

I well remember being a young bride preparing for my wedding. Days were consumed with choosing the colors, flowers, candles and cake. Bridesmaids, groomsmen, and minister. My head was crazy with thoughts of that special day. Women know that the most important detail of all is the dress. We traveled to surrounding cities trying on dress after dress until I smiled and knew, “This is the one”. There were dreams of the church doors opening like the parting of the Red Sea as the wedding march heralded from the organ pipes. There was a gasp as I stepped into the sanctuary, gazing down the long isle looking at my love. His eyes locked with mine as we met at the altar to publically announce our love and make covenant with one another before God.

Soon there will be a much grander wedding than any of us have ever imagined. The bible tells us that on that unknown day, Jesus, the Lamb of God will return for His bride. It will be a bride who is in covenant relationship with God who has prepared and made herself ready. The Bride of Christ is the passionate lover of His Son. You are invited to be the bride upon receiving Him as your Savior. As you pursue an intimate relationship with Him, you will anticipate His return. As you await that great day, think of yourself as His Bride being made ready. May we be found with no other idols; clean hands and a pure heart; loving Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

What a glorious day it will be when the trumpet sounds and we are caught in the air with Him. We will lock eyes with the lover of our soul. We will be made glorious as we take that wedding dance on the floor of heaven. There will be a wedding feast consisting of much more than my little wedding cake, nuts, mints, cheese straws and punch. It will be a feast that has been prepared for this wedding of Christ the bridegroom and the Bride of Christ.

I hope to see you on the dance floor as together we all make up this glorious pure Bride. Watch and wait as you eagerly anticipate His return.
