Plant A Seed Day

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.”

Psalm 19:1

“Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.”

Hosea 10:12 TLT

I had my playlist set on Spotify, ready for a good long morning of writing. Being that I use the free account, the annoying ads popped up after the second song. As I fumbled around attempting to shut down the interruption, the next ad caught my attention. I paused and learned that Thursday, March 19, 2020 is named “Plant a Seed Day.” (www.plantaseedday.org) The ad spoke it like this: “We still believe that anyone, anywhere, can plant a seed for the future.” As I read more on the website I came to know that their mission is to encourage everyone to plant seeds in their little spot of dirt. Help the hunger problem by sowing seeds in the space that you have.

WOW! That will preach. So I think I will.

It is interesting that due to the Coronavirus, everything in the natural is shutting down. Everyday we are experiencing new closures and yet God’s good earth is bursting wide open. The birds are singing louder than ever. Actually, I think they are singing as normal but our world has quieted enough that our ears hear the beauty of their songs. The trees are budding and green shoots are popping up from the winter dirt. Last night I discovered the source of the sweet smell is the wild honeysuckle blooming and spreading the aroma of hope and joy. Tiny dogwood leaves declare that Resurrection is on the way.

The Lord is awakening us to His life and His power. He is not lost in all of this chaos, but is very much alive and at work. Spirit life is actually bursting forth as Christians are awakened from their winter’s sleep to arise and pray. The hard ground is being plowed up and prepared for the sowing of seeds. As “Cross” followers, we carry the living seed of Jesus Christ within us. It is our opportune time to plant a seed.

One seed sown into the Kingdom will change the future forever.

Oh believer, it’s time to sow into this plowed up ground. Let’s not miss a single opportunity. If you are asking how you can plant while you are quarantined, may I suggest that one of the greatest ways is sowing in prayer?

E.M. Bounds said, “God shapes the world by prayer and prayer is where the action is.” Your prayers are like planting seeds for the harvest. When we pray God’s promises into the lives of others, we are sowing God’s seed. When you see nothing happening, it is easy to give up. Don’t give up! Something is happening beneath that black dirt.

God is at work accomplishing His purpose.

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (Galatians 6:9 NKJV)

So, how can we make these days count? Wake up! Arise! Sow seeds! PRAY!

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

James 5:16

Plant A Seed of Prayer today and water it with Prayer tomorrow.

Liberally spread Seeds of Joy into the dark of much sadness.

Drop Seeds of Hope in the midst of despair.

Scatter Seeds of Faith right there in the middle of fear.

Press that Seed of Encouragement deep into all that negative talk.

Push a seed of Love down in the ground and watch hope arise.

Together we can impact this world by planting one seed,
but let’s plant many!
