Good News Spread Everywhere
And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Luke 2:10
In the middle of the multi-pack wrapping paper was one roll with a thin shiny gold stripe. I never dreamed that one beautiful roll would be such an irritation. As soon as I opened the pack it was evident the stripe was glitter. Glitter on the scissors spread to my hand, spread to my face, spread to the table, spread to the floor, spread everywhere. I finally moved it to the back door to go out with the next load of trash and you guessed it. It continued to spread everywhere. There it was on my jacket and the garage floor, and right into my car. I carried glitter everywhere that I went.
At the time it was very annoying, but what a beautiful picture of the fragrance of Christ sticking to us and spreading everywhere we go. The scripture even makes it clear that the spread will be an annoyance to many and a delight to others. To some it will feel like life and to others death.
“For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life.” 2 Corinthians 2:15-16
We have the great privilege of spreading the love of God everywhere that we step. Well-known words of this pandemic year are, “Stop the spread!” But our assignment is, “Increase the spread.” Go tell!
Good News of Great Joy For All People.
We have been invited to encounter the hope, peace, joy, and love of Jesus. We are privileged to spread the message of why Christmas is good news for 21st-century people in a hurting world. A world that needs some sparkle, some good news, some real joy.
Step into the glow of Christmas lights and shine a different story to a negative world. Jesus comes as good news of great joy to spread like glitter. May His love and joy stick to everything we touch. Jesus stepped into this broken world to set a good plan in motion. He has not changed His mind. He is still Good News of Great Joy for All People.
That includes you! Lift up your head and rejoice. Yes, rejoice in the middle of the sorrow, sickness, disappointment and frustration. As you do, the light will burst in and brighten your countenance. Joy will change your perspective. Joy will get all over you and go with you everywhere you go.
My glitter roll of paper went right into the trash dumpster spreading glitter all over the trash. Everyone needs a touch of glitter of the love of God. Throw some toward those that feel like they are trash, useless or throw aways. His love reaches to the depths and transforms everything He touches.
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14
